"Partners with the poor in one of the world's poorest countries."

CRMF has worked to develop two micro-lending programs in Madagascar: the Womanworks Program and the new Youth Training Program.

The WomanWorks Initiative was designed to offer the women of the village of Sandahatra an opportunity for economic stability and basic education as well as enhanced nutrition for themselves and their families.  Through this pilot project, the women participate in classes that teach care and breeding of domestic animals, small business skills and family budgeting.  Small group members then receive micro-loans which enable them to purchase cows, pigs or chickens.  This integrated program provides education for the village women, improved nutrition for the whole family, and a chance to raise the family’s standard of living through the sale of extra milk, meat and eggs.

The program has been enthusiastically received by families in the village who are eager to improve the standard of living for themselves and their children.
