CRMF has provided equipment and funding to help in disaster and crisis situations.
Fire at Foulpointe (Summer 2009) - When a cooking fire
lead to the destruction of 80% of this small town, Caring Response provided immediate relief in terms of clothing and cookware.
Our team also helped assess issues such as sanitation and procuring clean water in the town.
Cyclone Ivan (Spring 2008) - With winds recorded at 185 miles
per hour, this was one of the worst storms to hit Madagascar, resulting in loss of life, destruction of homes and excessive
flooding. A national state of catastrophe was declared, as thousands of trees and crops were destroyed. Emergency grants provided
aid to rebuild fishponds, rice paddies, schools, homes and purchase new seed. Thank you to our donors for your support!
Emergency Nutritional Support (2005) - Developed a supplemental
nutrition program for malnourished rural children.
Educational Funding (2004) - Provided funsing to keep rural
elementary schools open during country's financial crisis.
Cyclone Kinsey (2002)
- An Emergency grant from the SC Ministry Foundation in Cincinnati, Ohio and a CRMF grant provided crucial supplies like
food, blankets and medicine. This support also helped to finance efforts to open
rural roads blocked by mudslides, assist stranded families and to repair the local church which had suffered damage from
the floodwaters. See photos below.
