About Us

Caring Response Madagascar Foundation (CRMF) is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved communities in Madagascar. Our mission is to create lasting change by focusing on education, literacy, and essential community development.

Through our core programs, we not only improve access to education but also address critical needs in sanitation, healthcare, and economic self-sufficiency. Our goal is to equip individuals with the tools to transform their own lives and build stronger, healthier communities.

Our Focus Areas:

  • Expanding educational opportunities for those with little or no access to schooling.

  • Supporting initiatives that promote healthier communities through improved sanitation and healthcare.

  • Encouraging economic independence by fostering self-sufficiency and sustainable livelihoods.

Together, we’re building a brighter future for Madagascar - one empowered individual at a time.

Why Madagascar?

Madagascar is one of the world’s poorest nations, where daily life is a struggle for survival. In Toamasina, the country’s second-largest city and main port, poverty, lack of education, and poor sanitation are everyday challenges.

The Harsh Facts:

  • Over two-thirds of the population lives on less than $2 a day.

  • 66% lack access to clean water and sanitation, leading to widespread disease.

  • Waterborne illnesses result in millions of lost school and workdays annually.

  • 63% of the population is illiterate, with less than 7% of children finishing high school.

  • Frequent tropical storms, food insecurity, and malnutrition worsen the crisis.

At CRMF, we’re working to change this by providing education, healthcare, and opportunities for self-sufficiency—helping communities build a better future.

97% of donations to CRMF go directly towards supporting our programs in Madagascar.

The remaining 3% is used for our twice yearly newsletters and web site fees.
